Deco Poly Mesh Ribbon Wreath - Picture Tutorial

Join me for a...
Mesh Wreath Tutorial
This morning I went to Jo Ann Fabrics and purchased the following materials to make a beautiful Autumn Mesh Ribbon Wreath:
-Brown and orange mesh measuring 20.5 in x 12ft
-2 Plastic Foam Wreaths
-Greening Pins
-Ribbon
-Autumn Sign
I like this ribbon and the sheen on it!
I was going to string beads through my wreath but decided not to in the end.

The Greening Pins worked out very nicely.  I have never used them before, but what a time saver they were to use.  Simply gather your mesh and push the Greening Pin down into the foam.  It's that simple.
I should mention that what I should have done was take my smaller ribbon and wrap it around the foam wreath, but I new I was going to fill in with the ribbon, so I didn't bother, but for a more finished look, it would be a good idea to do that.
Continue gathering the mesh, space them out several inches apart, and pin the mesh to the foam.  Once you have your first color completed, move on to the other color and work your way around the outer part of the wreath. In this case, I began looping and gathering my orange mesh.
Ok, here is the wreath with the brown and orange mesh completed.  Now I'm going to begin to fill in with my ribbon.
I cut the ribbon in long strips and then folded the ribbon directly in half and pinned it to the foam, again, working my way around the wreath, filling in the bare spots.  I added a bow, and then my Autumn Pumpkin Sign.  All I did was pin them into the foam.  No hot glue was used in the process.
The great thing about this ribbon is that it is water resistant, so you can place it outside on your doors and you don't have to worry about this wreath getting old and wilted looking.
Pretty cute, don't you think?  I may do a giveaway with this wreath.  Is this something you all would like?  Let me know and I may whip up a few more for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You can adorn these wreaths any way you would like, which is the fun part. I think it is MUCH more fun to make my own wreath then to buy one, because I can customize it to my liking.  Thanks for stopping by!  Remember, just a few more days left to enter the Giveaway.

I've had numerous emails asking where I find my mesh and not everyone has a Jo Ann's in their neck of the woods. So, here you go ladies, I found some reasonably priced mesh you can have shipped right to your door! Hope this helps, and now is a good time to pre-order your Christmas mesh too!

I wish Michael's would start carrying the mesh. Our Joanne's is one of their smallest stores and they don't carry much else but fabric. Your wreath is beautiful! Thanks for sharing..... :)

I love this! One question, though. . .did you use all four rolls of the mesh you show in the first picture on this one wreath or was it just one roll of each color? Thanks for the how-to. Oh, and I think this would make a fabulous giveaway!!!

Beautiful wreath. Yes, I would cheat and stuff the entry box for this wreath! LOL. Really it is so pretty and it is not messy. The flowers, raffia (which I use) and such can be so messy. I guess You know I think it would make a great giviaway. Ginger

Beautiful Liz! That is a great way of making it too...I have been looking for the metal wreaths with the pieces of greenery on them, but cannot find them anywhere. Becca at Adventures in Decorating uses those. Both ways are great though...So glad you are joining my parties!! Thanks so much! Kristen

Hi Liz, I just made my first ever mesh wreath using your tutorial. I literally had my laptop next to me as I created mine. Please don't laugh at it, it's not as gorgeous and plush as yours but I'm trying. I have leftover ribbon left so I can make at least two more for gifts. Thanks again for sharing your talent and inspiration! -Bev
