Stripped the house of Fall Decor......

Now it's onto Christmas...
Join me and I'll share how I am creating a whimsical tree.
I grabbed some Deco Mesh at Hobby Lobby this afternoon. I ended up using 2 red, and 2 green rolls to complete my tree.
If you haven't used Deco Mesh in your tree before, it's very simple.  All you do is begin at the top and tie the mesh in using the branches, work your way down the tree and create a poof, and tie it in with the branches. The poof kind of mimics a bow,  if you will.
 Poof...
I wanted to try a bright and vibrant green this year, so I used the same process and worked my way down the tree using the branches to tie in the mesh. I did this until I went all the way around the tree.
I'm not done yet, as I am missing a few key elements, but thought I would show you a bit of my progress.
It looks rather whimsical, which was the look I was going for...funky and fun!! ;)
Y'all are going to think I'm nuts, but I put on the Traditional Christmas Music station and was loving every second of it.  I was singing to xmas tunes and had fun putting together the tree....it really got me in the mood for Christmas! =)
I hope you all have a great weekend!  More Christmas to come...

Oh gosh! LOL I just took down my Halloween decor but left up fall. I don't put Christmas up until the day after Thanksgiving. (or the weekend of)
Your tree looks fantastic though. I love how whimsical it looks, I purchased 2 rolls of white and red check from a local decor store for my tree. Looking forward to seeing your home decked out for Christmas!!
Have a good night

The tree is lovely, Liz. I'm not ready to give up my fall decor yet & don't want to sidetrack Thanksgiving. I know I'll be doing lots of pre-planning & stage as many things as possible in our guest room, so I can start the Christmas decorating as soon as the leftover turkey goes into the fridge.....lol! Have a great weekend, Liz.

That tree looks beautiful and you are right... definitely whimsical!! I love how the mesh makes the tree look so full. Girl, I flipped over to the seasonal music station on t.v. and couldn't do it. I love love love Christmas but I can't do it until after Thanksgiving! I tried and I had to turn it off. I am weird that way! I am glad you are in the mood so now I can have lots of inspiration!!!

Love how your tree turned out! It is so cute! I was thinking last night I really wanna start decorating for Christmas, I will wait a few weeks though. You better believe I will pack up all of my fall decor Thanksgiving night and start decorating! LOL Cannot wait to see more!! Keep it coming, girl

I can't wait to start decorating for Christmas, too! My daughter's birthday falls on Thanksgiving weekend (extra thankful!) so I always wait, although not willingly, to decorate for Christmas until after her big day. I do tend to leave the Christmas decor up until at least mid-January. One year I even left my dining room tree up until after Valentines Day as it is decorated in white and red French decor. I will be excited to see your decorating progress, be sure to keep the posts coming!

Great tree, Liz! You are so ambitious... Christmas begins for me the day after Thanksgiving so I still have Fall decorations up. They've been up since September so I always feel like my 1.2 months of Christmas decorating get jipped! Maybe I should start like you do?!? BTW, I put on all the old classic Christmas songs the entire season, in the house, in the car wherever I am!!!

But...but...but...what about the Thanksgiving turkey? Did you bypass him this year?;>)

Very cute- I have never worked with that mesh before. xo Diana

Hi Liz, Love your tree and mesh garland and bow treatments. I don't know how you do it all, I always say you are a wonder and blessing.I have to admit last night after all chores finished! watched Hallmark Channel, Mrs. Miracle, two movies starring Doris Roberts( mom on Everybody Loves Raymond). Great family movies and they are showing Christmas movies starting now. Again, can't say enough thank yous. Look for something holiday coming to your home hopefully soon.

I have some of my Christmas up, too. I am on the holiday house walk on Dec 4th, so I thought I should get started. I will do the outside in a couple of weeks. Your tree looks great!

I am glad I am not the only one to describe these whimsical tries as "funky". When I say to my friends "I want a funky tree this year" they look at me and go huh? I really love the look, I am going to be utilizing some of you ideas this season.

I don't think your nuts at all Liz. There is a radio station here that starts playing Christmas music from before Thanksgiving all the way through Christmas, and I love it and that station stays on in my car until after Christmas!! Your whimsical tree looks beautiful!! Martina

Love that tree! Cool how the lights shimmer through it. I'm gettin' ready too. I'll leave most of the fall up until Turkey Day, but I'll start decking the halls in the living this week. Oh, I had C'mas music on all day yesterday too ;o)

Cute! ❈ Can't wait to see what other "funky" spunk you add to this tree. ❈ I'm wondering how hard it would be to get the stripes to swirl around the tree horizontally? Is it just as easy? Like some others above I have a staging area coming together in my office for now, but I'm thinking a few twinkle lights tucked in among my fall garland might be pretty (and necessary to tide me over until after TG!). ❈ No harm in sneaking a little winter sparkle in, right? ❈ xo

I've only recently found your blog, but I must say I adore you! You have great decorating style. I'm so thankful for finding you in time to help me with my Christmas decorating. I have always wanted to add this ribbon to my tree. I think I can do it this year!!

What Fun! Since the time changed today, we were having a very lazy day, I suggested we put up the Christmas tree and the entire family got a great laugh out of that..

Wow, what a fun tree. I love the way the mesh cascades down. I found the Deco Mesh this year and I agree it's great to work with, it's so versatile. Are you using it anywhere else? My husband and I were just talking on our way home from the lake house today about getting the Christmas things out since we're having Christmas at our house this year (actually two, my side on the 17th and his on the 25th). And I won't have long to decorate. We'll be at the cabin for Thanksgiving and I have a Christmas Tour of Homes on the Dec. 13th. This time of year is always so busy and I love it. I know with 4 kids you don't get much rest either.

Blessings,
Theresa
