Christmas is "officially" down!! Now onto "normal" decorating...
Join me for a Living Room Tour!
Hi everyone, I hope your Christmas was wonderful! Thank you for all your sweet comments, too! =)
This year I have decided to de-clutter. I am really going to try and keep things a bit more minimalistic (a word that is normally not in my vocabulary) and keep things more practical for every day living.
In the picture below, I decided to play up the mantle with topiaries and varied them at different heights using candlesticks and vases.
I hung a wispy green wreath from the mirror and added some wire ribbon for a little texture.
I think my style is a bit of Traditional and Tuscan mixed together. I love metal embellishments and love to incorporate them into my decor.
I usually keep things very matchy-matchy, but I think I am going to steer away from that a little this year. I think adding different pieces, with different textures adds charm and gives the space a little eclectic feel as well!
This is the left side of the mantle,
and this is the right side of the mantle.
I adore Tuscan colors which are very warm and earthy. I have gold, and orange, and beige, and a lot of green in this room.
I love pictures of the Tuscan Countryside, so two Tuscan pictures plank either side of the fireplace.
I used to have a long table near the window with two lamps, but in trying to keep things simple, I decided to go with a side table and one lamp, a fern, and a few ornamental balls.
A close-up!
I adore this picture and have had it for years. I purchased it at Kirklands.
This living room is cozy, warm, and simple.
After all the cleaning and dusting I had to do at Christmas with all the nick-knacks and 14 Christmas trees, I am *so* ready to keep things more manageable and practical for everyday living.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour. I took all my Christmas down in one day. I was a woman on a mission. It was a BIG job, and I am so glad to have it all boxed and put away for next year.
I am enjoying trying to change things up around here. I want to add a little French Country to my Tuscan/Traditional look.
I hope you'll join me for another year of decorating fun!
Thanks for stopping by!

All in one day??? Amazing!! I have been following your beautiful Christmas decor and I am amazed that you took it all in one day!! Woman on a mission alright.
Thank you so much for all your ideas. My Tree this year was the most beautiful I have ever had thanks to all your beautiful posts.

Oh my gosh, Liz, I can't believe you took it all done in one day! Come do mine now! : ) I keep mine up until around January 6th, but when I do take it all down, I'll try and do it in one day, too. This way there's nothing hanging around. Your living room is so cozy, warm and inviting. Your furniture looks so comfy, too!

What a beautiful living room! We took down our Christmas decorations today too. The place looks so much bigger:)
I like that you have a gorgeous wreath above your mantel. Thank you for sharing! Joy
I so admire your energy! The room looks beautiful. I'm loving your curtains.
I took my Christmas down in one day too. Got it all boxed, and ready to go back up to the rafters. BUT, I didn't clean on the same day. I did some today, and will finish tomorrow. I don't have near the amount of Christmas stuff that you do, so I am impressed you got it down in one day!!! I love your living room, and I too am drawn to the earthy colors of Tuscany. My living room is my only room with a more traditional feel.
I think you MUST start to add some French Country to your decor. After all, you are going there! I am seeing toile!!!!
: ) Kris
I am beginning to think that you have 10 arms! I can't believe how fast you got all of your Xmas down and packed away. Me? I'm on Day 4 of "the cleanup!" I love your living room ... the Tuscan colors work perfectly in here. Your mantel looks beautiful, and I love the wall grouping above your sofa! The pops of green tie in beautifully with the scenic view out of your awesome windows! Happy New Year! xoxo
Liz, your living room looks gorgeous! I love the topiaries an the wreath on the mantle. Beautiful!
Thank you for the inspiration!
Your living room looks lovely--very inviting! I'm on a mission to find new lamps and I'm in love with that floor lamp. Can you share where you got it? Thanks!
Love everything, Liz! It all looks so pretty! I cannot believe you have all of your Christmas decor down and packed away already. I am leaving everything up until probably the first or second. Then I will take it all down! Big job!! Cant wait to see more of your decorating! Love it all!! :)
You are so lucky to have such a large home and the talent to make it beautiful. Great job!
I'm with the rest of the commenters and can't believe you took it all down in one day. I get tired just thinking about taking it down. But tomorrow is the day and I, too, can't wait for the decluttering and simpler spaces.
Looking forward to seeing your changes this year. I decorate in a French Country style so it will be fun to see what you come up with!
Happy New Year.
I usually have mine down by now but on christmas eve my daughters ask me to keep it all up until after new years; we go tubbing at north perfect slopes and come back to our house for new years dinner and everyone spends the night. It's going down sunday morning after everyone leaves. I had 11 trees up this year and the house looked like winter wonder land my daughters said. I have similar taste as you do. I'm going more for creme, chocolates, oranges and greens and yes I've already began to minimize my house too. I guess we need a change. I love what you have begun to do with your house. Love the colors.
It all looks so pretty Liz. I have yet to start taking mine down, I don't think I'll do it til Sunday or Monday! Happy New Year to you all.
With or without the Christmas decor your home is lovely...always! I know i won't be taking my stuff down until the 6th of January. I feel like I just got everything up, so I would like to enjoy it a little longer! xoxo Jeanette
oh, so pretty! so glad i popped over to take a peek and say hello. we are at least a week out from taking it all down ~ blessings to you! xoox, tracie
Everything is beautiful, Liz. Love that mirror you have over the mantel.
You really must have been a woman on a mission to take down all of your Christmas decor in ONE day!! ha-ha You always have the most energy. Good for you!
I like your new blog background. It's a nice backdrop for your gorgeous home photos you share.
I came back tonight to compliment your photo of your house at the top of your blog and i see it is gone. Oh well,. I enjoyed seeing it this morning. Suzan
I came back tonight to compliment your photo shot of your house at the top of your blog and it is gone. Maybe packed away with your Christmas decorations!!!! Oh well, it looked good this morning
My you've been busy! I'm just getting started. I'm not ready to give the twinkle lights up just yet so I take all the Christmas down but leave the tree (with just the lights) and mantle greenery with just the lights and call it a "New Year's" tree :-) Still trying to figure out how to transition to a sprinkling of Valentine's decorations before totally changing things up. I think there might have to be a HL trip in my very near future (and maybe lunch with a sweet friend?). -xo
I just love this room! I especially like what you did with the wreath. So beautiful.
Such a beautiful room Liz. Always love your style. Btw, we are in the process of looking for new furniture - would you mind telling me where you got your sofa set? It's perfect and looks very comfy too!
Thanks & Happy New Year,
Kim

Wow! I would love to have a living room that looks like that. You do not even have to decorate it to make it look lovely.
