The Kitchen (Part 1)

Hi everyone! Well, if you know me, I *love* nick-knacks.  However, I am really trying hard to "minimize" just a little.  If you look at the kitchen island, guess what, no clutter whatsoever.
The island is clutter free and will be used as a a prep space when cooking, just as it should be. =) Join me and I'll walk you through the kitchen and show a few changes I've made.
I added this Iron Embellishment above the kitchen window and moved the curtain valances back to showcase it.
I added this Bon Appetite sign over the refrigerator.
I made changes on top of the kitchen cabinets.  I added two candle sconces on either side of the hood and added a wire cloche and placed a plant inside it.
A close up!
Here is the other side of the cabinets, the only difference is the metal pineapple basket filled with a few artichokes.
Now onto the corner cabinet.
Mr. Rooster sits perched on a bed of leaves and two baskets are filled with grapes, artichokes, and wine corks. Here is a close-up!
Below is what is what I refer to as...The Coffee Station. The Espresso-Latte maker, the regular coffee maker, and coffee grinder! ;)
Below is another cabinet on the other side of the sink.
Lighting is a big deal for me.  I love adding lamps in the kitchen.  It really does make it feel cozy on a rainy day, or any evening for that matter.
Here is another light.
Below are a few glass jars I filled with a plant and artichokes.
Fruit always makes a great centerpiece.
Baskets of greenery are an easy way to accessorize any corner in the kitchen.
I will share the rest of the kitchen in one of my next posts.  I re-vamped one little area, changed a few items on the wall, so stay tuned! =)  Have a great day everyone! xo ~Liz

Liz I think I have told you before what a lovely home you have. I have gleaned so many ideas from your kitchen decor. I like the grapes and wine corks in the baskets. I may just have to borrow that idea!

Hey, Liz! I know it can be hard to minimize when you like knick-knacks! I do too! Everything looks very nice. I really like that wire cake stand/cloche. You should check out the battery operated candles that are on timers, for the sconces above your cabinets. Unless of course you really do "fly" or like climbing cabinets to light those!! ha-ha
Looking forward to part 2.

WOW! YES! This is by far the prettiest I have ever seen you display your kitchen. Even in the previous home. Liz this looks truly gorgeous and is just the right amount of goodies. Love the artichokes, glass and wire. The topiary plates are my favorite. Wonderful job!

Hey Liz! Your kitchen looks great!! I got so tickled reading your post. I had done the same thing and removed everything from my center island! It is a clutter-free surface for food prep and snacks. I also created a small coffee station in the corner. I got the hubby a Keurig for Christmas and figured this would be a great way to make it "cute"...lol! Love everything that you have done...you're sooooo good!

I love it! Your kitchen looks so elegant and feels very warm and inviting. I love the tops of your cabinets. I have about 10 feet of open space above mine and need serious help with what to do. Everything that goes up there seems to get lost...

It is all so beautiful, Liz! I love kitchen pictures.
I have never been able to keep lamps in my kitchen because they get dirty so fast. I use my stove at least 3 times per day. What is your secret to keeping lamps clean in a kitchen - especially the one right by your stove?

I love your kitchen! So cozy. I am trying the idea with nothing on the island, sort of hard to get used to. You have inspired me to work on my upper cabinet space. Can't wait to see more!

Now with the holidays over, I need to decorate the area above the cabinets, Liz. I'm going to gather what I have already on hand and see what I can make do with. I never think to add pictures up there. All yours look great. Love the wire holders! I love your Chef Pig on your countertop, too. : )

Looks lovely as usual, Liz. Someone else mentioned the battery-operated candles on timers, & I have several of those that I purchased at Costco. They work beautifully & no soot on your ceilings.

So just exactly what were you standing on when you took the last shot??? That is an interesting angle! Looks like it was taken from a very tall ladder ...great shot though! :) Everything is lovely! Especially like the wire cloche with the plant!

I have the same exact sconces that you have on the sides of your vent hood! It is so funny to see how far apart all of us bloggers are from each other, but we end up with the same exact things in our home! Have a great day!
