Tuscan Style Accessorizing In The Kitchen

Accessorizing is so much fun! Today, I would like to share where I am heading with my style this year. I'm bringing in some darker woods, more pottery, organic pieces, and earthy warm color tones. This really is so much more me. I tried going a little lighter and brighter, but I just couldn't grasp how to throw it altogether.
I had another crazy idea. Here it goes, I took apart the hutch shelving piece from our office unit and I placed it on top of my electric fireplace in the kitchen. I did this for two reasons; to add height and to bring in the darker wood tones which are so reminiscent of Tuscan Decorating.
Just about all the items you see on the shelves were purchased at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. Yee, hah!
Oh, I did get the dessert cloche at Ross for $6.99 and I filled it with a few Wheat Thins.
This week at Hobby Lobby they have the glass jars filled of veggies on sale for 50% off. I picked up 3 and will show the other two soon.
I think this display is bright and cheery!  The brown, the gold, and the greens go nicely together.
I added two Topiary Plants on each side of the shelving unit.
I needed some height, so I sat two coffee books on the pedestal and then sat the olive jar on it.
If you have shelves that aren't tall enough for some of your items with decorative tops, simply take the ornate tops off and use them to decorate with.
Lastly, it's always nice to add a small lamp when possible, so at night the shelves look nice and cozy!
The two pieces matched perfectly, so I thought, why not? ;)
This is my new favorite piece...
And this one, too!
So, there you have it....more Tuscan-izing in the kitchen! I can't wait to show you how this is all coming together.
Also, thank you *SO* much for all of your sweet comments on my last post. I have all my kiddos home until Monday, so I have been unable to respond, but please know how much I appreciate them!
Have a wonderful weekend! XO ~Liz

Everything looks lovely as always. How do you use a lamp on a shelf? Is is battery operated? I don't see a wire or a plug. I have a little lamp like that myself but I have no access to a plug where I want to put it.

Lovely. You always have such a sense of "space" as you put your decor together. It's a gift.

I love the shelf on top of the fireplace. I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday. They had an isle that was 66% off. I had a couple of things in the gold tones, like you just shared, and a tray in my cart. For some reason the lines were NOT moving...AT ALL. I put my stuff back and left. I can kick myself in the butt now. I lost sleep over it last night...lol. I was on the other side of town today at Ross. I don't know about your Ross but ours was cleaned out from Christmas. I have a hair appt tomorrow . As soon as I am done I am going back to Hobby Lobby and pray that the stuff I was going to buy is still there. At least some of it. I will also wait patiently!!!!

Love how everything looks. You are amazing!

I had another question...Where do you find the leafy balls that you put on top of your candle holders and sconces? I have found the moss ones, but not the leafy ones. I have tried Hobby Lobby and Ross.

Thanks,
Cathy

Liz...When I was younger I was always moving things around and rearranging my stuff. Since I have gotten older, I don't seem to do that as much. But every time I read your blog and see your pictures I am sure tempted to make some changes! (:>) You have the magic touch!

Everything you did looks so nice. I like the hutch with the faux fireplace! (:>) And I love all of your new Tuscan pieces.

Have you ever been to Tuscany? I wish I could go someday! (:>)

Love, Linda

Liz-You are truely an inspiration to so many of us. You have been blest with a gift for decorating and creativity. The first thing i do every a.m. is go to your blog to see what awaits us this day. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. Words are inadequate to express our appreciation. I to have a question as to how you plug in your light in your shelving. Also i have been looking for the greenery balls and have not been able to find them. Thanks for your answers in advance. Norma

Hi Norma,
You are so sweet, thank you for the lovely comments. *smile*

Let's see, because I used the office shelving unit it had a cut out on the bottom specifically for cords. I just slipped the lamp cord through and attached it to an extension cord in back of the fireplace. A great way to conceal cords is by using greenery. If I didn't have that tall canister below the lamp along with the greenery, trust me, you would see the cord. lol! ;)

The green balls I got at the "Real Deals On Home Decor Store" ...love that place and they are so inexpensive, too! Google the store to see if you have one in your area, it's so worth a trip there. ;)

Hope this helps! XO ~Liz

Love it, Liz! You are a creative one for sure. I always run in to the.. "a bit too tall for the spot on the shelf" situation. I never thought to remove a lid and use it the way you did here. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas!!
