Old World Style Tuscan Mantle

Tuscan design is casual, rustic, weathered, and colorful. Today, I decided to re-do my mantle, after all, the mantle should be the focal point of the room is resides in.
Let's begin with a...
I took everything down and started fresh!
I moved my big iron gate and hung a wreath on it for spring. I flanked the iron gate with two Tuscan candle sconces for ambiance.
Now came the fun part....L A Y E R I N G the mantle!
I placed two topiary plants on each side of the mantle to balance everything out.
The sconces are from Kirkland's and the Iron Gate is from Ross.
I added some yellow and green pottery to add a pop of color. I placed everything at varying heights, added some greenery, and a few moss balls.
I think by hanging the wreath on the gate, well, it gives it a charming appearance, and adds character.
The greenery helps to fill in bare spots and adds a bit of texture.
Since I re-styled the mantle, I now feel inspired to change the family room around, so off to move the furniture....wish me luck! ;)
Do you feel your mantle expresses your style and the overall vision that you're trying to implement in your room? I feel my mantle expresses the direction I want to go in, now I just need to go make it happen and Tuscan-ize the room! ;) Thanks for stopping by and for the sweet comments on my last post!
XOXO ~Liz

At present my Telly sits above my mantel. BUT, but :-) this may soon be changing. Then I will have so many more options as to how I decorate the mantel.
I just luv your gate Liz. Everything is beautiful.. now I await the reveal of the furniture rearranging.

Great gate, Liz, and I love how the sconces work so well with it. Love the different pieces you filled in with, too. I am happy with our mantel the way it is, which is probably why I don't change it out! I think once I get something the way I like it, I don't bother messing with it. Plus, now that we are in a smaller home I don't have the room to store a variety of accessories.

LOVE it (as usual!) The one thing I CONSTANTLY wonder though when I look at your blog, is "How in the world does she hang stuff all over her walls without leaving nail holes everywhere?!?" PLEASE answer this question and share your secret with all of us. I love switching out my decor, but feel limited on what I can do because I can't put holes in my walls all the time. And command hooks/strips only work for certain items! HELP LIZ!!

Hi Andrea,
You ask a good question, but unfortunately, I am the *wrong* person to ask. lol! ;) I never let a nail stand in my way. I am what you call...the "patch, putty, and paint" QUEEN!

I HAVE TO switch things up all the time, otherwise I get bored with how it all looks. So, I place nails wherever I need to.

Wish I could have been more help, maybe someone else will have a great tip. XOXO ~Liz

Oh my gosh, I have 2 mantles that I have to express my style so I am starting from a blank wall as well. I love the sconces, I am hoping to make a trip soon to Kirkland here in michigan but it is a 1hr trip. So right now my mantles are all stagnant, just sitting with "stuff" on them. I need to get some of the gates/wrought iron decor.

Hi Liz, I believe your mantle, home is more Tuscan than Italy....!!!Love the pottery, colors, ironwork and sconces. So much of European decor has gone very modern...thanks for sharing !
